Second Nature is run by Kyson Dana. These terms cover this website, the films, the emails, and the workshops and community it offers. By using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.

What Second Nature is, and isn’t

Second Nature offers films, writing and creative workshops about story, meaning and personal change. It is creative and educational work. It is not therapy, counseling, medical, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Workshops can bring up personal material. You are responsible for your own wellbeing, and if you are in crisis or need professional support, please reach out to a qualified professional.

Workshops and enrollment

When you enroll in a workshop, you get a personal, non-transferable place for the dates listed on its page. Prices, dates and what’s included are described on each workshop’s page at the time you enroll. Refunds are covered on the Refunds page.

We may need to move a session, change a guest or adjust the schedule. If that happens, we’ll tell you as early as we can, and every session is recorded.

Being in the group

Workshops and the Second Nature Club are small, private spaces where people share personal stories. By joining, you agree to:

• Keep what others share private. Don’t record, screenshot or repeat other people’s stories outside the group.
• Treat everyone with respect. Harassment, hate, or selling to other members isn’t allowed.
• Share only what you’re comfortable sharing. You choose how deep you go.

We may remove anyone who breaks these agreements. If that happens, we’ll explain why.

Your work stays yours

Your story, your writing and anything you make in a workshop belong to you. We will never publish or share your work without asking you first.

Our work stays ours

The films, writing, photographs, recordings, workbooks, prompts, fieldwork briefs and other materials on this site and in the workshops are © Kyson Dana. You’re welcome to watch, read and use them for your own personal practice. Please don’t copy, resell, redistribute, or use them to teach or run your own programs without written permission. Workshop recordings are for enrolled participants only.

Second Nature, the Second Nature butterfly mark and The Spiral Story Method™ are trademarks of Kyson Dana. Please don’t use them in a way that suggests we made, endorse or are connected to something we aren’t. Short quotes with credit and a link back are always fine.

Other services

Some things run on other companies’ services: films on YouTube, live classes on Zoom, the community on Circle, and email and payments through Kit. Their own terms apply when you use them. Links to other sites are offered for convenience; we aren’t responsible for their content.

Limits

We work hard to make this good, but the site and workshops are offered as they are, without promises of any particular result. To the extent the law allows, Kyson Dana and Second Nature aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it.

Changes and the law

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA.
